Andrew Garfield Amazed By Zendaya’s Performance on Euphoria

Andrew Garfield praised Zendaya for her soul-shattering performance in the fifth episode of Euphoria.

Andrew Garfield has now officially been moved to tears twice by Zendaya. Once when her Spider-Man: No Way Home character MJ was saved by the British actor’s web crawler, giving him a second chance at saving the love of his life, and again when he was overcome with emotion as he watched the 24-year-old give her all to portray the struggles of a drug addict teen in HBO’s Euphoria.

Recently, the actors reunited for an interview with Variety in which they discussed each other’s passion and commitment to their roles. Garfield was quick to mention Zendaya’s performance in the fifth episode of season 2 of Euphoria and admitted that the sincerity of her acting made him want to ‘cry’

Andrew Garfield was impressed with Zendaya’s performance.

The 38-year-old immediately complimented Zendaya on her outstanding performance in the HBO series for which she won an Emmy in 2021. It was one of the most remarkable things I’ve seen an actor do in recent memory, according to the actor from The Amazing Spider-Man. The response from Zendaya was, “That means the world.”

The fifth episode of the show, according to Garfield, was “one of the most relentless episodes of television I’ve ever seen.”

”I’m starting to get to know you better, but to have access to that kind of awfulness and the damage and pain, and to make it so human,” he added. The English actor also asked Zendaya about her well-being after filming the exhausting episode.

Zendaya, who plays the role of Rue in the HBO show, revealed that after the fifth episode aired, many people reached out to her asking if she was OK.

”Makes me want to cry. I didn’t feel like there was any acting. It felt like you were living through something in such an authentic way,” Garfield concluded.

The HBO show addresses explicit subject matter, such as drug overdose, alcoholism, and violence. Fans praised Zendaya’s performance for its realistic and unfiltered portrayal of a teenager attempting to turn a new leaf after overcoming her drug addiction. Following the success of its second season, Euphoria has been renewed for a third.
